High School Survival Guide

Acknowledgements for the Wingara Project

"Wingara" means "To think" in the Sydney language

The St George District of the NSW Department of Education and Training is conducting an ongoing middle-schools project aimed at enhancing literacy skills among students of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander backgrounds.  The Wingara website captures many of these activities.

The "Aboriginal Experience" highlights the careers and endeavours of some famous Aboriginal people, based on interviews conducted by the students. Aboriginal Culture and family history are covered in the Primary Schools section.

The "Survival Guide" is designed to assist students in their progression from primary to high school.  It was developed by the students while on a camp at the Royal National Park.
