Task eight: Global Citizens

Background Information:

The majority of Australians enjoy the privilege of running water, daily food, clothes and houses to live in and most importantly good health. Others are not so lucky. World organisations have been formed to aid the developing countries which are struggling to survive.

Your task is to:

  1. Click here to read reports of aid given to those who are suffering.
  2. Explain how those suffering do not enjoy the freedom, basic needs that you enjoy as an Australian citizen.
  3. Choose a location that you feel your school could best support.
  4. As a class/group decide how you could raise money to send overseas through one of the Aid organisations.
  5. Present these findings to your school convincing the school community the need to support this group. Your presentation must outline how you will raise the money, why you feel this is a worthwhile cause, who the money will directly assist and how it might change their lives.
  6. Email the appropriate aid organisation expressing your interest and support.
  7. As an ongoing task create a spreadsheet to keep a record of your fund raising.
