Gymea Bay PS
This is an online research module designed to support the Stage 3 unit of Global Connections published by the NSW Board of Studies. Please refer to the Syllabus to ensure the whole unit of work is covered. The module has been designed to develop:
Computer Competencies |
High Order thinking |
Collaborative Learning |
Information Skills |
This was adapted from tasks designed by teachers from Gymea Bay PS as part of Key Learning in Information and Technology (K.L.I.C.T) Project for the implementation by schools in Term1 2003. As a follow up from the teachers implementing the Online Research Module in 2003, Global Connections will be enhanced to include teacher/student initiated developments, samples of students' work, teacher anecdotal notes and will also include the various scenarios of schools and classroom setup in regards to the technology available and accessibility.
The tasks are designed to develop knowledge and understandings of Australia’s relationship with the rest of the world. You will be looking at how we rely on other countries and how other countries rely on us.

Whole Class: The research module completed by students completing only one task. These are compiled to form a sequential bank of information to be presented to the class group or wider audience such as school assemblies using a data projector. As a form of assessment students design open and closed questions from their completed tasks. These questions are answered by all class members who then could link the completed question file within their Eduweb work folder. This ensures all students gain an understanding of the facts. |
Groups: Students work in teams. Team members share the workload to complete all tasks are completed and each student copies the files into their individual Eduweb folder as part of their electronic portfolio. |
Individual students: Students complete all tasks and present the information within Eduweb. |
Community of Schools: The tasks can be completed with another school developing the use of emailing with attachments. Students will gain an understanding of how their information is interpreted. |
