Background
Information
Australia, the land Down Under, is home to nearly 20 million
people. Consider Kurnell, where the European explorer Captain James
Cook first stepped foot on Terra Nullius [No Man's Land] soil 215
years ago
If you leave Sydney today, urban heart of NSW by one of its many
freeways, you will cross kilometres of familiar ground: shopping
malls and housing developments, industries and offices,
parklands...... But you are asked to step back in time and begin an
epic journey across Australia with one of the famous Australian
explorers
Explain how you survived while abroad, including dangers that you
faced; what paths you had taken; conflicts/disasters confronted with
and what you have accomplished.
You will be required to design a COMPUTER GAME that will be
commissioned by "Crown J Andrews" or "Mattel".
You will need to include rationale [What is your target
audience/purpose of the game] as well as instructions for play.
The basis of the game should be derived from, historical
events, a recount of your experiences as an intrepid explorer! or
even as a gold miner in the gold rushes of 1851.
Task
You
have been commissioned by Crown and Andrews to design a computer
interactive game for their Educational Catalogue. The theme of the
game must be designed around understanding the historical events,
facts and knowledge of an Australian Explorer/s of the 19th century
and the discovery of gold in Australia.
The input should be as a result of the teaching and learning
experiences you have had from the unit Exploration
and Expansion.

Student Work Samples
Using the Edu Utility a blank
power point presentation named 'game.ppt' can be placed in each
students work folder. The student then opens 'game.ppt' to
complete their work. The 'game.ppt' is hyperlinked and can be
viewed in the web browser. This ensures all students have the
presentation saved in the correct folder.
